KamNewsReviewsIssue #005 -- Wine in the Thompson & Quality Content vs Buy my Stuff April 06, 2015 |
Hello Everyone, At A Glance Kamloops NewsWine in the ThompsonThere’s a good chance that the first place you think of when it comes to BC wine is, you know… the sunny Okanagan. But guess what?.....some hard chargers, adventurous souls you might say have domesticated the sage, semi-arid land and two rivers in the Thompson. They're cultivating cool climate grapes that love long sunny days and cooler evenings. Kamloops is becoming the hub of the developing Thompson-Shuswap wine-growing region, which includes 6 vineyards and 4 licensed wineries. The wineries Harpers Trail Winery, Privato Vineyard and Winery, Sagewood Winery and Monte Creek Ranch (due to open in a couple of months) have formed the Kamloops Wineries Association and are marketing themselves as The Kamloops Wine Trail. Visiting our local wineries is as much about the experience as it is about the product. Kamloops Wine Trail vineyard charms may include sharing your experience with big horn sheep, grass-fed cattle, horses, bald eagles and honey-bees or a chance to sip with the wine-maker who most likely is the owner. Each vineyard welcomes visitors and there are winery tours and tasting rooms. Harpers Trail Privato Vineyard & Winery Sagewood Monte Creek Ranch Opening this summer (2015) Head out to a local winery there is sure to be something to suit your palate. Online Business NewsQuality Content vs. Buy my StuffEffective Use of Your WebsiteMany small, and large businesses don’t see half of the benefits that they could if their websites were in designed with the right mindset. That mindset is to be reader friendly, not only in ease of reading and providing lots of pictures but to get into the mind of the target market. Businesses should be asking themselves: What is the main goal of my website? Is it to:
Does your web site serve your target customer or yourself? Many websites have their focus in reverse… instead of being focused on the potential customer, they are too busy yelling “Buy My Stuff” and that’s the only message the reader sees and hears. Instead of being like the majority of sites that if they were a real person they could be described as a pushy used car salesman and offer no real value to the reader, doing the exact opposite, will position you and your site (which is a extension of yourself) in a much better light. In your “customer’s mind” they are on your site looking for a solution (s) to their problem. If you present yourself as that solution by engaging with them, delivering quality information and offering your solution (your product or service) they are more likely to hit the “buy” or “contact us” button... Why? because you’ve shown that you understand their problem and offered a solution to that problem by presenting quality information on your website (and social media for that matter). Understanding the mind of your target customer and being clear on what it is you offer them is a major strategic game changer. It is also an easy way to out-perform your competitors and stay ahead of them in both the search engines and positive “word of mouth” promotion that you can’t get enough of. Adjusting your strategy and getting your priorities in order will help you to serve your current and future customers. Depending on your target market and the marketplace in general, you will be able to stay “front of mind” and also have a clearly established immediate and long-term strategy that you can use to grow and expand your business. The main thing you need to do is stay focused on your customers and provide them what they want (and need because if you don’t know what they want, you can’t sell it to them. So find out…where’s it hurt? A simple way to find out is to ask them, the same way a doctor asks you “where does it hurt”. Ask “what problems do you have” so I can offer (sell) you a solution. By providing solutions and unique quality information to your target market on your website as well as engaging them in your social media, you’ll be staying in constant contact with them and develop a relationship of “trust” as you further establish yourself as the leader in your specific market. Strategy and forming strong relationships with your target market is key to having your business get established and stay front of mind.
